BARRING ROBBY AND DAVE

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Thank you Jen for putting on monitor status Dave and Robby. Though I
disagree with puttting Dave on this status , I will defer to your
position as moderator. This should cut down on the number
of “frivolous” postings. I do know, however, that Robby has many
IDs so beware ….he will continue to “haunt” this board…..John

embarrassing insulin reactions

Monday, June 25th, 2007

I’m interested in knowing how people handle embarrassing insulin
reactions. It doesn’t happen to me often, but when it does, it is so
horrible. I get confused and act weird, and when I try to explain
what’s going on to someone I do not know well, they just look at me
like I’m a freak. Sometimes they’ll say something like, “Oh yeah.
When I don’t eat my blood sugar gets low and I get cranky,” not
seeming to understand the whole confusion aspect.
I recently had someone get angry with me because I was low and wasn’t
able to help him with directions while he was giving me a ride. And
tonight I had an insulin reaction on a first date. I was rude to
someone at the next table, and am afraid I cannot salvage the
situation. Mostly I feel bad about being rude to someone. I was
confused and got defensive. I thought she was making fun of me or
something. I feel like I acted like such a freak! I’m so upset I
haven’t been able to sleep all night.

Blood Sugars Levels

Monday, June 4th, 2007

There are some people who are what is considered ‘borderline’
diabetics. Those are people who need a little medication to help keep
their glucose down. For example: I know a person who is on Glucophage
500 mg tablets twice a day. She more times than not forgets to take the
night dosage, but she get blood tests and the results will be within
the range they are supposed (5to 6).
There have been days when she has forgotten to take them and those
blood tests will read a little higher (about 7).
As long as she takes one (1) a day she fine.

How low should Blood Sugar not get?

Friday, June 1st, 2007

I’m curious. What is the lowest Blood Sugar should get before it is too
low?
I have been a Diabetic for about 10 years. My sugars used to be very
high (10 to 12 on the Diabetic scale) about 200 to 280 sometimes 300
when I got Blood Tests every three months. But the last 5 months my
sugars have been more like 6 to 8 (125 to 170). Better still I have
been testing 1 to 2 times a day since the beginning of April. Ranges go
from anywhere of 53 to 120. I get the shakes when the numbers reach the
50s. Any suggestions?

DIABETES TYPE 1 INDIA (RECENT PROGRESS)

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

Dear,
Once again; I am on the board to intimate further progress on
reduction of Insulin dose to my son (who is type 1 diabetic) under
strict medical supervision.
First of all; sorry to all the members whose direct messages I
couldn’t respond because being a member of total 138 Diabetes Groups,
it is not possible for me to respond individually at present and also
Group rules does not permit me to do so. Again, extremely sorry for
that.
This time, after a long period of 10 days, on 08th June 2004, my
doctor reduce the daily dose of insulin to my son from 16 units a day
(8 units at noon & 8 units at evening) to 12 units at noon before
lunch ONLY. No insulin injections before Dinner as earlier! Great
relief to my son as he has been moved from 2 daily shots to a single
shot daily! Really, God is great!

DIABETES TYPE 1 INDIA (INSULIN INJECTIONS CAN BE STOPPED WITH HELP O

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Dear,
Thank you so much for your e-mail reply regarding my sons illness.
Thanks a lot for the information provided by you. It is very important for me
and for my whole family as here, in India; we lack such type of latest
information in the particular field that is IDDM (Diabetes Type 1).
I really understand that time is the best healer of all the problems. I also
understand that most of the diabetes medicines I read about, which are taken
orally, are for Type Two diabetics & will not be helpful for my son, who is a
Type One diabetic. He gets his blood sugar tests thrice a day & carries some
form of glucose with him at all time!
I would like to inform you that I am trying some Indian Herbal medicines since
17th May 2004 as advised by an Aayurved Expert here in India without
discontinuing the insulin injections to my son & his daily blood sugar tests.
Till 16th May 2004, before starting the Indian Herbal medicines, my son was
regularly given 35 units of insulin (20 units at noon & 15 units at evening)
