i’m new to the group and the computer! please be patient.
Hi I’m new to the group. BI-Polar and diabetic. Type 1 and have been
for 20 years. I’m 41.
Im Linda and I just joined the group. I just found out I am diabetic. Im
42 years old. I also have mild neuropathy. I still cant believe it
happened to me and Im having trouble accepting it. My daughter is 16 and
shes been diabetic 4 years now and takes insulin. Im hoping to make some
friends and get to know others who have type 2 diabetes too. Thanks for
accepting me in the group. Linda
I just found this group and I hope it turns out to be beneficial.
Many of the groups (diabetes) are not active, everyone seems to be
knowledgable and commited to helping others. Here goes…I live in
the Chicago ‘burbs and need a new endo, any suggestions on who/where
to stay away from or lean towards? I realize no one can solicit, I
was hoping for an informed opinion. I also have a ? re: emotional
rebouding after a low BS reaction. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon
Hi, My name is Janet and I live in Virginia. I have had type 2
diabetes for about 20 years. I do not belong to any other diabetes
groups and am interested to see if being on group will be a positive
experience. Already I learned one new idea-about using nutritional
yeast with rice. My BS have not been well controlled for the past
couple of years but I am working on it. I look forward to reading
people’s posts.
this is a touchy subject.
I am a male diabetic type 1 ( dignosed 7 years now) 38 years old.
does it happen to anyone else that you need to have your blood sugars in the
HIGH range to get a good erection?
it can’t be in the 70-140 range usually, and certainly never below.
If so does anyone know WHY this might be?
one doctor told me that the opposite should be true.
confused and a little concerned about it.
Welcome to the list. I’m Jen, one of the moderators. I’ve had type 1
diabetes for 14 years. Want to tell us a bit about yourself? Do you have
diabetes yourself or does a family member or friend?

<< What you are saying is that all diabetics are clinically depressed. I
don’t believe that.
An association (read: correlation) does not mean that all diabetics are
depressed. It means there’s a higher incidence of depression among people
with diabetes, and/or a higher incidence of diabetes among people who are
depressed. It also says absolutely nothing and one causing the other or vice
versa, though it can have an influence.
It makes perfect sense that people with diabetes might have a higher
incidence of depression than the general population. Most people don’t have
to worry about the possibility of passing out due to a severe low, think of
every morsel of food they put in their mouth and every bit of exercise they
do, constantly adjust medication (for those of us with type 1, at least, I
don’t know as much about type 2), or the looming threat of complications
that even those of us who have no signs of still worry about. Even the cost
of medication for those who can’t afford it can be a contributor to causing

Hello all,
Just a quick intro, I am from BC, Canada. For years and years I have been
reading about the “association” between diabetes and depression. So my
question is: What are your insights/instincts about the relationship
between diabetes and depression…
Does diabetes cause, or is diabetes a manifestation of, depression… ?
My intuition tells me (in my case at least) that depression was one of the
(many) causes of my diabetes. I guess this question is focussed mainly at
type 2’s… Of course I would delight in everyone’s opinions and
insights…
