~Observing and Trying~
Something somewhat technical may have been
preoccupying you for the past week and more, and it
remains important today, but you may share it with
friends or others rather than just keep it to
yourself. [For me it’s been the Ease Index; for you it
could be anything somewhat technical or scientific.]
For your growth you may need to assert your
conclusions to people even if that annoys them a
little. Your survival as a conscious entity requires
you to think as clearly as you can.
The largesse of this period is wonderful along some
lines, although at worst it could mean “enjoying” too
much, as in overeating. Your soul forces are active
in connection with friends and anyone you like. So
you help them to achieve by inspiring them. You help
them recover from depression, and vice versa.
The Jupiter-opposite-Neptune aspect we’ve been
experiencing is today in positions suggestive of
interpersonal relations. So you could relate to
someone whose problems seem to be confusing him or her
in strange ways. Others’ “blind spots” are very hard
to understand. Sometimes we want to scream out “the
truth” but know it would be offensive. So you can
bear patiently, indicate as much as the other can
bear, and pray a little. Why doesn’t he get it? Why
doesn’t she get it?
The indomitable side of you realizes you can’t change
people immediately and they have to hold to their own
approaches to improvement in their lives until they
are ready for better approaches. You want to lead
them, but either they ignore you and go another way,
or follow partially and protestingly. So you see, as
the prophets have seen, that a new world is very slow
in coming to birth.
Despite all this, your consciousness is refined by
friendships and connections. You might ask someone to
perform on his or her instrument, sing, or dance, or
skateboard (hands to ears), or manifest some other
talent, and this could be good for everyone’s growth.
You could treat someone to your own performance art if
so inclined.
This period “grinds slowly yet exceedingly small” as
Alan Leo says of the sun sesqui-square Neptune.
Something requires great patience. You are tantalized
by quickening possibilities, but to bring them about
you suffer slow self-imposed tortures. It’s worth it
because you sense that a new era can arise from such
pains.

Ease Index: 1.35|Fri .60|Sat 1.38|Sun 2.50|Mon
2.12|Tue 1.50|Wed .73|Next Thursday (6/26) 1.33
[I feel betrayed again with the attempt to do an Ease
Index. I tried seriously quite a few years ago (when
I called it the Astral-Social Index) and finally gave
up because there seemed too many variables. Then I
discovered various techniques that seemed to overcome
the problems. I now have more than twenty “smooth”
days and more than twenty “difficult” ones, for both
myself and others, from the past several decades, in
my database. The current formula handles all but
three of these forty-some accurately. I realize there
will be some anomalies, and those three days were not
crucial ones. After getting the formula in shape this
way, I applied it to 9/11/01 and found that it gave
the lowest reading of any day I had yet tested! This
seemed a strong confirmation.
[Some will say the whole thing is doomed to failure
because, after all, if one team wins another loses, so
how could both teams have an “easy” day? This
overlooks something important. The emotional tone
will be up that day, so that losing will not seem so
painful to the losing team. Maybe most of the players
shall, after the game, have an especially happy time
with their wives or friends, and forget about the
loss. Losing will not be as painful as on a low-Index
day, when the players might brood on the loss for a
long time and try to figure out what went wrong.
[But now I feel that the Index is too optimistic. It
is very high this week and yet I am not having an
especially happy time. What do I find? That the sun
is very close (within four degrees as I write) to its
conjunction with Saturn. This is a major aspect.
Saturn is “the big heavy” in traditional astrology.
In fact, many years ago when taking a vacation, after
having mapped things astrologically, I admitted that
something was wrong, looked at the charts again, and
found that although there were many smooth aspects,
the sun was square Saturn. So now, with that memory
and my current experience in mind, I may have to
increase the negative value of the sun’s hard aspects
with Saturn, but then will have to check that against
all the “up” days in the database to make sure it
doesn’t interfere with their rating. You see, I
think, how complex this is. Well, time will tell;
meanwhile, I think I’m giving you something that is
valid and valuable. Further ruminations:
[Not every “up” day in the Index (above 1.00) will be
an emotional high. That may depend on aspects to your
birth chart, or within your progressions. (Astrology
is so complex that many have just given up on it. Yet
the patterns are real and discernible, not murky, to
one with the patience to work through them.) But
theoretically every “up” day will be smoother for
accomplishing things. You may grumble and moan, yet
be able to get things done efficiently. So you may
experience two kinds of “up” days: 1. When you feel
exalted and have a good time. 2. When you feel
emotionally down, yet are able to be efficient and
accomplish things smoothly. Whereas the “down” days
are likely to be difficult in both regards (although
not “bad” days, because they challenge you to find
better ways of coping, and so are constructive).]
