Insulin pump clip idea/help needed
I have been a type-1 diabetic since 1978 and have been using
Disetronic insulin pumps since 1996. I have joined this group to ask
for other Disetronic pump users’ help.
I contacted Disetronic a couple of years ago and asked them to
consider adding dye to the clips they use to clip off your site when
bathing or swimming. Because the clips are a very neutral color and
relatively small, they disappear on me all the time. I lose them in
the bathroom, they get kicked under my bed, etc. Like contact lenses
that now come in colors, they would be much easier to find on the
floor if they had some tint to them.
My husband is an engineer, and he checked out the cost of the dye.
The cost is so minimal it probably wouldn’t affect the cost of the
supplies at all. The people I spoke with at Disetronic thought it
was a ‘great idea’ and said they would pass it along to the ‘powers
that be.’ I never heard anything after that.
Normally, I’d just let something like this drop, but I really think
this would be an excellent improvement to a wonderful product. I’d
love to hear other peoples’ thoughts (and whether the idea would work
for Minimed pump supplies as well). If you agree that this would
make your life easier, please contact Disetronic and/or Minimed.
Maybe if they hear from a few of us, they might start to listen.
Thanks for reading this.
