Venison Results

Thanks to everyone who sent me hints.
Here is what I did:
I took the flank steaks and marinated them overnight in a mixture of vermouth,
Worchestershire sauce, garlic powder, & some other spices. I then heated my
electric skillet as high as it would go and sauteed a mixture of chopped onion,
chopped apple, garlic, and ginger. Pushing the onion mixture to one end, I
dropped the steaks on, and browned them on either side. I then covered them
with the onion mixture, poured on a half-bottle of Italian dressing, lowered the
heat to ’simmer’ and put on the lid while I ate my salad.
I then took the steaks out and set them on a platter. I fished out most of the
onion/apple bits and put them in a blender on ‘puree’. I raised the skillet’s
thermostat to the max, and added the puree back to the boiling liquid, along
with a tablespoon of tapioca powder, constantly stirring the mixture. I served
the steaks with the gravy along with a side order of brussles sprouts, drinking
Zinfandel along with it.

My neighbor just gave me some venison steak and about a pound of ground venison.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how one should cook them?

I just got their catalog in the mail. The only one of their products I’ve used
is the flavored syrups (which I like very much, BTW). What experiences have you
had with their products? Are there ones which you recommend particularly, or
ones which you suggest to be avoided?

More blood than usual.

This morning when I tested for some reason more blood than usual came out of the
jabbed place. Not enough to cause real concern, although it startled me a bit,
but it set me thinking.
How would someone with both diabetes and hemophilia manage?

Hi everyone
I’ve been diabetic since the age of 7.
I have been through the ringer with the complications. I lost my
eyesight a while back but with surgery, I’ve regained my site in one
eye to 20/25.. worse in the other eye. I’ve had cateracts due to the
surgeries. I lost my kidney function about 6 years ago and was on
dialysis for 2 years until I received a pancreas and kidney
transplant. (Have to tell you about that some time)
Since then, the pancreas failed and now I’m back on insulin. My
diabetes is extremely hard to control and now I’m trying the insulin
pump! So far, for the last 3 days, my blood sugar has been great!
Being diabetic is a pain but it’s something you can live with. One
day at a time!
No matter what, keep smiling and keep on keeping on
I’m looking forward to getting to know you all here.

Dear Reader,
If you ever saw mommy kissing Santa Claus underneath the
mistletoe - don’t worry - it was probably just your dad in a
Santa suit.
The tradition of kissing under the mistletoe comes from pagan
rituals practiced by the ancient druids of Europe. They
regarded the parasitic plant with high esteem, built alters
festooned with mistletoe, and did a lot more than just
kissing underneath it. But when the party was over, their
healers (who called the plant “all heal”) put this botanical
to good use in treating a variety of health problems, such as
headaches; lung diseases; epilepsy; internal bleeding;

After about two weeks of readings in the 80s and 90s, I wake up this morning
with a reading of 128. I can’t think why, as I didn’t eat or drink anything
unusual last night. AAARRRAUGH!

Atkins in the Comics :-)

In the strip Grand Avenue today we see a little girl on Santa’s lap saying,
“Santa, have you ever thought of going on the Atkins High Protien Diet? Thin of
all the venison you have access to!” Santa: NEXT!!

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in January 1999 and also
barely made it into hospital with blood sugars over 950, all I wanted
to do was sleep and I just thought I had the flu or something,
luckily my girlfriend was staying with me that weekend and she woke
me up, got me to doctors, and I was admitted one hour later. I was so
weak I could not even be x-rayed standing up and I collapsed on floor
of my room and they thought I had a heart attack.
I was started on Insulin and since I was overweight I also
decided to lose the weight I needed to. After about a year I had lost
85 pounds and I am now within 20 pounds of my goal weight. This I did
even though I am taking insulin , so I don’t buy the explanation
that Insulin puts on weight. It just restores the body weight back to
what it was before ketoacidosis, the rest is up to you to lose the
weight. What you did was extermely dangerous and I winced as I read
your account. I was horrified how you have abused your body by not
