Having Side effects

Hi everyone, First time posting here, just felt
like I needed to talk and see if anyone is going
through what I am. <br
I was and have had been having side effects from
Glucovance 5/500 for approx. 9 months. Well I called my
doctor, was told to stop taking it and I will be seeing
him this Tuesday. Well I stopped taking it, have been
having heart palpatations {sp} extreme dizziness,
extreme irritability. I found out about this place in
Boston called the Joslin Diabetic Research Center, I
want to go there, only problem of course is getting an
out of network referral from my Doctor, and having
the Insurance company accept the request. This is
just so stressful, I am pretty sure next step is
insulin, which I really don’t have a problem with, but

having to pretty much leave my health in the hands of my
insurance company, or a PCP, who doesn’t specialize in
Diabetes, is very stressful. Don’t get me wrong my doctor
is great. Also on top of everything I have had
blurry vision, and if I floss my teeth my gums bleed and
swell, so I can’t do that now either. Wish me luck,
hopefully I can deal with this and it will get better.
Sorry for needing to rant.<br

I don’t know if this will help, because
unfortunately I don’t have the names of all the different meds
in front of me, but here it goes. My PCP made me
attend diabetic education classes and one of the things
we were told is that having a reaction to one
medication doesn’t necessarily mean insulin is the next
step. There are several “families” of diabetes meds,
and you may just need a different one. My mom had a
real bad reaction to glucophage, but is doing real
well with glyburide. My aunt can’t handle glyburide,
but is using the glucovance. Don’t give up hope just
yet. I will try and get the list of meds and email
    them to you.
