LYNN: Probably the most important lesson that we
have all had to learn is that we have to be in charge
of our own lives and especially our own medical
care. If I had realized this much sooner I would not be
in the terrible shape I'm in now. I kept asking my
GP primary care provider if I shouldn't be seeing a
specialist. He kept saying "No I don't think so. I think we
can take care of this." Despite the fact that my BS
ran high 200's to slightly over 300 he would just say
"You know you need to bring your BS down a little."
When I ended up hospitalized and turned over to an
Endo he immediatley put me on insulin and changed all
of my meds. Unfortunately it was not in time to save
my leg or my heart or my kidneys. You look your
doctor in the eye and demand to know what he is doing
<!--more-->
and why. If he will not answer, you need to change
doctors. Despite what has happended to the practice of
medicine in our country there are still some doctors out
there who care.<br

Lynn, that's great. Is that the range your dr
wants the readings in? If the effects of the Actos were
just too unpleasant, have you talked to your dr about
trying a different one? I take Glucophage, and it does
really well for me. Worth checking into :) <br

I went on actos last Thursday and did not really
like it much. One is that I felt hungry all the time
and the other is it gave me headaches. My sugar
readings were 111 to 180....So today I did not take it and
my levels are the same...WEll not as high as
180...my high at waking was 159 and now its 104 all
day.....Im super duper dieting and watching carbs. 1200
calories a day...so that must be helping....This is soooo
hard.....<br
