what kind of machine do you use?

what kind/brand of blood sugar testing machine do
you all use? cost? When I was gestational almost 9
years ago, I had gotten one only to find it was way
more expensive than other brands. I don’t know where
mine is and I’m sure they have come way down in price.
Any suggestions/comments are most welcome.
Thanks!<br

LAUREL: Most of the companies will give you the machine in order to have you
dedicated to using their strips. Check with your Endo or your DE.<br

    Hi Laurel,<br
Elite (from Bayer) it was the same one that I received
when I had gestational a few years ago. I was getting
sick and tired of my fingers getting tender from all
the poking, so hubby went out and bought me a new
one. It’s the Freestyle (by TheraSense) and I
absolutely LOVE this one! I was going to wait until my next
Dr’s appt. to get a prescription for a new on so that
insurance would cover the majority of the cost, but hubby
got it for me as a surprise. It worked out just as
well, because this one had a $40 rebate attached to the
machine thus making it only cost about $15. Now the test
strips are a different story, because I didn’t have the
prescrip. for these yet, they cost more than the machine!
(about $64 for 100) The thing that I like the most about

this moniter is that I don’t have to test using my
fingers, I can get just a TINY (much less that what I
previously had to get, now its only about the size of a
pinhead) amount of blood from my fore arm with a lancet
that is almost completely painless! Also, compared to
the older model machine I had, this one is so much
more advanced, holding up to two weeks worth of
readings, and keeping and average for me so I can tell how
my A1C’s and such are going to be before hand! Oh
well, guess I’ve gushed on about this a little much
now, but I just love this one, Hope you find one you
    like as much! <br
is not working for Therasense but just likes their
    product LOL)
