Lynn,<br
a.m. When I am exercising (walking for 30 minutes) my
blood sugar drops so low I may ask the Doctor to
consider trying me without the med. On the other hand, if
it ain't broke, why fix it?<br

dear aurelean<br
all have diabetes and have to look after it on a
daily basis. why do we brush our teeth, why do we go
out to restraunts, why do anything because it makes
us feel good, or saves us from feeling sick, or
simlply is a part of being a human being. diabetes is an
added apendage we look after it so that we stay
healthy.and it can become a unthinking habit over time. if we
neglect it in essence we neglect our selves so no moaning
or groaning don't test every day make it every other
day relax and go on being good to your self. take
care regards cheeks

First of all I love your name. I have been a
diabetic for 3 years.Have only recently taken it
seriously. I had a really bad scare about 2 months ago which
has been great incentive. I am on the exchange list
also. I find that if I eat snacks between meals I don't
eat as much. I still eat my alloted amount, I only
break it up into 3 meals and 3 snacks. I'm not starving
at my meals so I don't eat as much. I have lost 14
pounds in 2 months. The best advice is that if you do
splurge, it isn't the end of the world. Dont give up. pick
yourself up the next day and start over. Good luck. you
can do it, You can do the best you can.

I am 44 and was diagnosed in June and spent weeks
being angry, resentful, depressed and etc. I started
walking and between that and staying close to within the
food guidelines I have lost 22 pounds and my lab
levels were perfect. I have learned to enjoy and only
have occasional episodes of anger/resentment now. The
things that helped me-I found delicious chocalate
covered cherries and acceptable mint chocalate chip ice
cream that are sugar free/or no sugar added. Biggest
thing that I did food wise was not eat between meals
and be aware of what a serving is. I can have just
about anything I want just not in the amounts I used to
consume. Example: I love the pink and white circus animal
cookies. I used to keep a big bag by my computer and
nibble all day. Now I keep a pitcher of water by the
<!--more-->
computer and have 6 animal cookies after lunch.
<br
this can be a (mostly) positive thing. Use it as a
motivator to take care of yourself. You didn't mention your
weight, family, job etc. but now you have to put yourself
and your health first. Feel free to e-mail me if you
like. Lynda@...<br
