My eye surgery

Sunday, September 26th, 2004

I had my cataract surgery and this is the
outcome!<br
success. After just taking the patch off, I have such a
vision change. I went from 20-80 WITH glasses (last
Thursday) to 20-25 WITHOUT glasses today! I went up six
lines on the eye chart WITHOUT glasses from what I was
seeing WITH glasses! It is unbelieveable! I had to have
the lense taken out of the right side of my
glasses….cute, huh???? Everything has a pink cast and my brain
hasn’t had time to compensate with my left eye yet, so
I’m still having to be careful with depth, etc
(weird……my left eye is so nearsighted while my right eye is
more far-sighted….hope my brain catches up soon!).
Not much pain…..just a little achy and starting to
get a little headache……….but what a small price

My brother…

Thursday, September 16th, 2004

Hi everyone,<br
on my brother’s condition. Jose had part of his leg
amputated, it was a below the knee amputation. When it comes
to his amputation, everything is going as
expected.<br
blood sugars, the doctor seems to be changing his
insulin dosage so much that it’s hard to say what dosage
is actually working. Jose’s sugars are going up and
down so much that he is pretty aggravated. In one day
his blood sugars range between 500 and less than 40,
which makes him feel awful. Sometimes, they give him an
“insulin cocktail” of NPH, Regular and Humalog insulin.
Then there are days where they won’t give him short
acting insulin before meals.<br
this particular hospital goes by a sliding scale and

THANKS FOR INVITING ME BACK

Tuesday, September 7th, 2004

Taty: Thank you for inviting me back to the club.
I am going to make a confession here. In April, I
flew back to Illinois and stayed through Easter. The
reason I had left Illinois was because of the stress
there (ex-husband, mother, brother, daughter, so-called
friends); since moving to Maryland, my health has improved
at least 80%. Well, the stress is still in Illinois
and after being there only a few days, I just quit
taking any meds (including the insulin) at all — I was
right back to Point A and couldn’t handle it. My sugar
levels rose to an alarming rate of 484, and I didn’t
care. After stopping the insulin, I started to lose
weight which I really need to do. And I was eating twice
as much as before, and all the “bad things”. Well, I
now have my sugars down to 235 (sometimes below), but
