thanks everyone

I had posted a couple of days ago about my
situation, in several different clubs and had some very
kind, informative responses.<br
hospital where my clinic is, I had made an appt for this
coming monday, but the dr. wanted to see me the next day
(yesterday). After telling the 1st dr that I had ketoacidosis
about two weeks ago, he informed me that I couldn’t
have had that, being type 2. I felt like a fool, and
so upset when he said that I was actually on too
much glucophage. I was to the point of tears, thinking
it was all in vain. If too much glucophage couldn’t
get the #’s down, what would less of it do? The
second doctor walked into the room and said “you need to
be on insulin, this will be for the rest of your
life”. I was actually so relieved! (I’m not some sadist

that wants to take shots either)<br
emergency room report, when I was there for almost 11 hours
one day and confirmed the ketoacidosis symptoms and
apparently a test they had run, would only have showed what
it did, if I were a type 1. So, all this time, I
have been on the wrong meds. I started back on insulin
last night and I think I feel a little better already.
Again, thanks so much to everyone that wrote me. Jeff

Jeff, I hope things continue well for you, and glad that the second doctor
    showed up when he did.<br

DKA is normally seen in type ones and you’re not
alone in the misdiagnosis. Doctors are still thinking
“Inside the box” and they see someone over twenty five
and thirty, and think “OH! Type 2! Here’s your pills,
buh-bye!” In reality, many type 2’s may well have been type
ones and were mistreated all this time.<br
you’re on the right track and hope now you’ll be around
    for a long time.<br

Dear Jeff, I really do not know what your doctor
was thinking 2 and a half years ago I was sicker than
a dog for 6 weeks went to an emergency room twice
and family doc twice, finally went to a different doc
who seeing me in my weakened state immediatly sent me
to the hospital and diagnosed me with keto acidosis
which is what made me so weak I am also type 2
diabetic, it is rare but it can happen , trust me I was
    there. Deb C

    I’m new to this. It’s really tough. I shouldn’t
be snce my mother and grandparents are (were)
diabetics. Medical problems suck. I’m so depressed. As all
of you must have been or are. Good luck and
    thanks.<br
