Carol, Figgypie…………………..

Carol,….your doctor was half-right. Testing
after dinner will be high….but testing after 2 hours
is the way to go, that is the time to find out how
you are doing and test should show how your meds and
food worked out together.<br
Glucometer Elite are glucometer products and not AccuChek.
My opinion?<br
is handy for what the unwrapping of teststrips is
concerned, the only trouble I find is that it will skip a
teststrip from time to time, thus resulting in loss of
money to the user. The Glucometer Elite is very good at
“sucking-up” from the smallest amount of blood which I like. I
have had many testers so far and will stick with the 2
I use now. There is a new-one out called Lifescan
Ultra<br

indeed a good active board and one of the best. People
are attracted to active boards as they can learn more
and can post to other posters<br
Jenny.??<br

Yes, John, this is why I do often test after
meals. When I’m having trouble keeping my sugars down I
also find it helpful to do the testing before meals so
I know where I stand, and can make adjustments
beforehand as to when and what I may eat. <br
pills at the moment but may soon have to add insulin to
that, as they seem to be losing their effectiveness, so
I’m sure I’ll soon be needing lots more
advice!<br

They can be, but if -as is the case with one of
the listservs I’m on- there are over 3,000 members
and mail is heavy, they may be put off by the sheer
volume of the mail.<br
close to 1000 sensors, I have ‘lost’ about 5. That
could be a loss, but I’ve wrecked more test strips
which require the ‘hanging drop’ and “Not enough
Blood”, “Retest”, “Retest”…. <br
ULTRA; it too is very good and corroberates well with
the lab work I get done.<br
and the ULTRA allows me to test from my arm, so I
don’t have blood on my guitar strings
<G>.<br

Jenny- have you found any negatives to the
ULTRA?<br
very important. Either too warm or cold and Fast Take
will not work. So far the ULTRA is not availalbe in my
area. I was concerned if you could get enough strips
for it as that has been a problem with Fast Take.
Apparently it has been more popular than the company
anticipated. <br

Actually, being in california, our temps are a
bit more moderate. I know the ULTRA is geared to a
wider temp differential, and so will not be as touchy
as the FastTake is. I think the ULTRA is good and I
do like the DEX, but the ULTRA’S 5 second test is
pretty cool too.<br
Some folks who couldn’t get the strips were sent some
and given a free ULTRA meter as back up. Call and
mooch. the only way a lot of them find out about
inadequate stocks are by the PATIENTS calling. Not the
suppliers. By being ‘pesky’ we get the goodies.<br
me know if you get one and how it goes for
you.<br

Jenny- thank you for your input. I will give
LifeScan a call this week. I would like to try the ULTRA.
I know they use a different strip than the FastTake
that I am now using. <br
tomorrow. <br
