Morning all~ New here…
My name is Amy. I’m a stay at home mom of 4+. I
have gestational diabetes for the second time. I hope
y’all don’t “toss me out” for being a “part time
diabetic”. So far I’m able to control things with diet.
However, I am really struggling with the “munchies”. I’m
afraid I may not keep things under control any longer if
these cravings/food desires get the better of me. I’m
looking for some support and ideas.<br

Welcome, Amy. You will find that a lot of us
started out as part timers. As you probably know, having
gestational diabetes is strongly linked to later developing
Type II diabetes. I, had gestational diabetes back in
1980 and was diagnosed as a Type II in 1993. No one
told me about the link and I didn’t take very good
care of myself during those 13 years. Right now, you
have the strongest motivation possible. You only have
to be super strict with yourself for the duration of
your pregnancy and by being very careful, you can
deliver a healthy baby. All it should take to control
those munchies is to think about what could happen to
your child if you don’t. Once you deliver you can
indulge, but do try to stay on track with diet and
exercise, because everyday you can put off the onset of
Type II diabetes will be a great day. I can’t tell you
how much I wish I had known and had gotten more
exercise and kept my weight down. Good luck. -Dona
