In a book by Bill Polonsky entitled "Diabetes
Burnout" he site there is a relation between diabetes and
depression. One out of FIVE people (20%) will have a severe
depression problem in conjuncion with having diabetes.
Alone? Not likely....<br
requiring our attention, persecution or non-sup[portive
family members and doctors, restrictions -placed onto
you or self imposed- all boil down to
depression.<br
expected.<br
a "Response-ABILITY" to our environment and to
those folks around us. What We CHOOSE to do will make
or break our resolve to be well.<br
find the list helpful.<br

"Diabetes Burnout" by Bill Polonsky sites
depression in one out of every five persons with diabetes.
That would mean 20% of folks with 'betes also have a
physical (chemical) depressive situation as
well.<br
stay in that mode, and 'wallow', it will hurt us
severely. Not saying it's easy, but we do have a
"Response-ABILITY" in this too. This is one time we should not just
kick back and let it take over out emotions and take
our lives.<br
brown-eyed-babies (Dogs) and will soon take ownership of a little
pomeranian with diabetes. Conan is six, almost sevn. He has
to get 1 unit in the morning and 1 unit at night of
NPH. Despite cateracts and the 'betes, he's a happy
little man and is coming to me from Kentucky.<br
<!--more-->
play for hospitals and such sometimes and give out
cakes and such to my health care team. I look after my
dad and other people so getting out of myself helps a
LOT!<br

Yes, there does seem to be a link. In part, it is
emotional because having a chronic disease is depressing,
but some studies have shown a possible biological
link. Many of us with diabetes also take mood elevating
drugs (like Prozac). Talk to your doctor. I know mine
broached the subject with me, pointing out that diabetics
are often depressed and it gets ignored by the
doctors because they are caught up in treating the more
physical symptoms. Also- make sure your thyroid is
checked. Thyroid problems can lead to big time depression.

Amanda,....I noticed that the URL doesn't work
from here.<br
wiped clean the entire address bar above (delete). Then
paste the URL in there and press enter. That
works.<br
