Pick a new pump
I just got approved to pick out a new insulin
pump, (I’ve had the disetronic H-tron for 4 Years) I’m
ready for something new. If anyone has had a Mini-Med,
or a Disetronic (H-tron, D-tron or the new
Dahati),or the new Animus pumps please tell me about your
expieriences with them. I’ve loved my Disetronic but am
willing to consider other options. Feel free to IM me,
e-mail me or post something here, any information would
be greatly appreciated, including how the company
works (customer service, suplies, delivery, etc..)
Thanks very much -Lizzi

I just got my new Minimed 508 in February and
have had a good experience with both the pump (the
remote control really comes in handy) and the company
(questions quickly answered and supplies promptly sent even
when exchanging). The Disetronic D-Tron offers many of
the same features (excluding the remote) and has
significant safety improvements over the H-Tron.<br

years this week. (03/15/93) I have just recently
acquired a 507, and LOVE IT! - but I wanted you to know if
you decide on a Minimed, try to get the newest
version the 511 - it will be out in the next few
months.<br
I can’t give you a current view of Minimed. The web
site is very through, and the reps are extremely
helpful. Delivery of supplies in quick and accurate &
on-line ordering is easy. I love the new features on the
508 and can only imagine the improvements on the 511.
I hope this helps a bit.<br
specific questions you can e-mail me at

Lizzi,<br
pump (the Prodigy). One of the new features is that it
is waterproof and they say it is easier/quicker to
load (no data on why but I suspect they have gone to
the prefilled reservoir cartridge so air bubbles will
no longer be an issue). It also will have a remote
like the current 508 pump. Minimed says that if you
buy a 508 now they will send you a coupon to upgrade
to the Prodigy when it debuts early next year.

I got this from the insulin-pumper’s site and
thought it was good…They are also working on getting
another CHAT going with Minimed, Animas and Disetronic. A
good list to be on if you’re thinking about, or
already on a pump. This lady is in Florida, but the list
has almost 3,100 members in
it!<br
the phone with my Minimed rep,
Jeannine…. I told her <br
concerns about the pump. She said she’d <br
question I had so … this is what she told me…<br
She stressed that they have not release the pump out
on the market because <br
bit. (So maybe some of the concerns we all have will
<br
proprietary insertion set is because of it <br
waterproof. Jeannine said that if you use a different set,
the tubing <br
will leak in.<br
ARE NOT calling it the 511, it is the <br
And that’s it.<br
listen to ‘rumors’ on the net. Hmmm….didn’t a <br
of us READ what we learned???<br
batteries are either AA or AAA. <br
advance IF I am repeating anyone’s previous post.
Sometimes I <br
couple.<br
really like to get a <br
swimming and I’m scheduled to get my very <br
soon and it’s going to be the 508. I already
downloaded the <br
I don’t even want to send that in. <br
s LOT more than I do so I really respect your
opinions! <br
<br
haven’t posted much, just pretty busy ’round here
with the home repairs going on.<br
I’m disgustingly boring so I’ll go pumpin’ off to get
some housework done.<br
