Depression and Diabetes
Depression, not just the down days or the type of
depression one gets with normal disappointment or loss. But
depression that goes on, day after day. And never seems to
get any better. Lots of people have it. There are
medications for it. Not just diabetics get it. But this type
of depression is most often caused by the lack of
certain neurotransmitters in the brain, or the
malfunctioning of them. It is also shown that diet can effect
these transmitters as well. Plus, diabetes can, also.
So, with that in mind, it’s easy to see why diabetics
have a high percentage of depression compared to the
rest of the population. And we have to remember that
depression is every bit an illness as diabetes, flu,
pneumonia. It can be treated. It’s not something to be
ashamed of. It is the fastest growing illness in the US
and possibly the world. And people do not need to
suffer with it. If you feel you are depressed, sad, not
interested or just simply feel out of it, go to your Doctor
and talk with them, get some help and actually start
living again. It can be a good life!
