Hello everyone,<br
welcome to the new members that have joined sinced the
last time that I posted.<br
since I was 1 years old, some might say that I should
be used to it by now. I have my moments when I feel
as if I haven’t accepted having diabetes, especially
when I’m not sure why my sugars are out of control or
I’m having problems with a diabetes
complications.<br
about anything that has to do with diabetes, like
checking my sugars or making sure that I’m not over doing
it with the carbs and a number of other things that
I must keep in mind. But, I have diabetes and I
must continue to do what I do, so that I can keep
myself from getting any more complications.<br

Hello club members. I recognize several names
here so I feel comfortable walking into this new room.
I was diagnosed in Feb. 99. I suspect I was and
undiagnosed diabetic for a long time before that. <br
hospitalized for a flare-up of ulcerative colitis that would
not heal even with the most aggressive treatment
available. My colon perforated during the colonoscopy and I
was taken to the operating room for an emergency
ileostomy. The blood work that was done for the surgery
showed a glucose reading of plus 30. Most people would
say that discovering insulin dependent diabetes and
having my colon removed and replaced by a bag for life,
at the same time, would be enough cause for
depression. But,I had been dealing with depression before
these issues happened. My daughter’s only child, a

There’s no chicken in the sea. What are they afraid to
tell us, it’s fish? Afraid we won’t understand? “Just
put ‘chicken’ on the can. They’ll think it’s chickens
that live in the sea.” — JERRY SEINFELD<br

EATING IT WAS THE EASY PART

Wednesday, May 21st, 2003

A suspected thief was forced to cough up the
truth after an x-ray revealed he’d swallowed a fortune
in stolen jewels. Police in Perth, Scotland, say the
man was interrupted while robbing a second-floor
apartment.<br
window, breaking his hip. When cops arrived, they found
him lying beneath the window, moaning in pain and
unable to move. They rushed him to the hospital where
doctors ex-rayed his hip to assess the damage. There, in
the corner of the film, was the evidence. “It’s
pretty obvious what happened to the jewelry,” says one
officer. “Now, it’s just a case of waiting by his bed with
a bucket in case things start to move.”<br
was sorta quiet in here; thought I’d liven it up a
little. <br

HUMOR FOR THE DAY

A little old lady got into an argument with her
pastor. The pastor thought he would never see her again.
However, she showed up for the evening service the same
Sunday.<br

repair the church building or tear it down and build a
new one. Most of the brethren wanted the new church,
but the decision seemed to rest upon the attitude and
generosity of a wealthy deacon. When called upon to express
himself, the brother arose and said: “It is true the old
church is badly in need of repairs, but I think we
should do that instead of building a new one. I’ll
subscribe fifty dollars toward repairing the old

HEART PROBLEMS AND DIABETES

Wednesday, May 14th, 2003

High levels of blood sugar can damage your large
blood vessels, making it harder for blood to get to
your heart. That’s why people with diabetics are at
greater risk of heart attacks, strokes, and circulation
problems. Here’s how you can keep your heart healthy and
help prevent problems.<br
vessels by keeping your blood sugar levels in the healthy
80 to 120 mg/dL range.<br
your doctor to help you stop. Smoking increases the
level of fats in your blood and narrows your blood
vessels.<br

crackers, cookies, pastries and snack foods. The risk of
heart disease rises as cholesterol levels

Hello, everyone. I already ‘know’ several of you.
For those I haven’t met, my name is Dona and I am a
type 2. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago. I’m on
meds, but insulin is probably in my near future.<br
joined because I am convinced that even though we all
have to ultimately deal with this disease in our own
ways, we do share a lot of the same feelings. And I
think that some of the feelings- like the depression
that a lot of diabetics have to cope with are part of
the physiology of the disease. Sure, having diabetes
would depress anyone, but I think the chemical changes
in our bodies enhance the depression. I really think
a lot of those of you who don’t have diabetes but
who are out there working to understand the disease.
So often our family and friends don’t really ‘get
