Welcome Everyone!
Hello All Members,<br
each and everyone of you to our new club. It’s a great
pleasure to have you with us, and I’m sure we can develop
strong bonds with one another and lend the support and
information many of us need to deal with Diabetes either in
ourselves or for those we love dearly. I know that this
club means something very special to Taty, who I love
dearly and who I see on a day-to-day basis what Diabetes
does to a person and how it infringes upon daily life.
Just having this alone is enough to drive someone
crazy if there aren’t enough support groups to help a
person cope, and because every person is different, each
person is affected by this condition in different ways,
but I see first hand how it can affect the
emotions.<br
are, Taty is one, and some people in my family are,
also. My father is now a Type 2, so is my grandfather,
and my grandmother passed away in 1984. Just this
past January, I lost my Uncle Tony to Diabetes-related
symptoms. He was only 50 years old, and has been in my life
since the day I was born, so that was a difficult death
to have to deal with and get through. At times it’s
still hard to believe that he’s gone, even though I
know he’s in a much better place than any of us
are.<br
a committed one because it’s literally a matter of
life and death. Being with Taty and living a rewarding
life with her has taught me so much more than I
thought I could ever know about this condition, and I
know the emotional havoc is has with just having to
test the blood glucose sugars multiple times each day,
having to constantly stay on top of what she eats, how
much insulin to put on, and I know it’s like being on
a leash. No matter where you go, it’s always there
with you, and it cuts in on personal decisions and
life-styles dramatically.<br
is to have a caring suport group of people who can
share common experiences and offer some feedback on
some very difficult questions and problems, and most
of all offer the encouragement to influence the
motivation to develop an excercise regimen, and to also make
it clear that just because someone is Diabetic
doesn’t mean they cannot live a long, rewarding, and
productive life.<br
like myself it’s certainly eaiser said than done, and
I might feel wakward trying to impose my thoughts
on this when I’m not affected by this, but having a
loved one in our lives does impact us and therefore we
are effected by the emotional aspect of it, and we do
our damned best to always be there and to be as
understanding as we posibly can, and like all of us, I pray for
a cure in the short times to come. :-)<br
again, thank all of you for being here, and I have no
doubt that this club will grow into a wonderful haven
for support and soul-healing for all of us, in one
way or another.<br
